Sculpture Fact: I am always fascinated by the ways in which a sculpture can come together and work really well. I had made the body form for this work and it had been sitting for a while. A good friend brought me the horseshoe crab tail one day thinking i’d be interested in it. Forms in nature like this are always central to my making and thinking, as I am endlessly in awe of their geometry, their beauty…etc. I took the tail and just smashed it onto the front and the work instantly transformed. All of a sudden, its posture made sense to me. The relation the form had to my memory began to fill in cracks in my understanding. It all worked.
